For a complete solution for your ATV plow, get this 8′ synthetic rope and the Warn W69373 fairlead. You need to replace your fairlead anyway, so you might as well get this one that has the large bottom roller. You should also get the Warn 80831 (4505-0291), synthetic 3/16″ x 50′ winch rope for summertime riding. I suspect you’ll never have a problem again with broken winch ropes when using a plow.

I just bought a snowmobile, I’ve never had one. I have a few questions, can you help me out?
I bought a 1987 Artic Cat from my co-worker.I paid $200.I have never seen it and I dont how it runs. He takes good care of his things and is very good with engines. The engine was rebuilt 3 years ago (by a shop) and has had less than 2 hours put on it since. He hasnt used it since 2008. He used to only use it to bring his shanty out on the ice, but ever since his buddy got a new snowmobile he has no use for it. He has an ATV (4wheeler) too and uses that a lot instead of the snowmobile. He sold it as a favor to me, if I didnt ask him he wouldnt have sold it.He thinks all it will need is a “check-up”, ATV Warn probably will be ready to go after $75-$100. He is my manager. If this thing was just going to give me headaches he wouldnt sell it to me because he knows I’d be bitching to him about it everyday! He is the 1 and only owner of the sled, and has made necessary repairs/improvements to the sled over the years. Hes a real quality guy and I trust him. Please answer a few questions I have:1.) Is it a good deal? I could still not buy it, I have paid him $50 of the $200. I am not looking for a high-performance sled, just something that will RELIABLY get me where I want to go (trails, lakes, open country, etc.), possibly some steep hills?2.) What should I look for when I first check it out for as far as warning signs that something on the sled is wearing down and is ready to go – skiis, tracks, handlebars, body, seat, etc…?3.) Do you think it will cost a lot more than he thinks to get it going good? I know you have no idea of the condition…. Are snowmobiles like boats, Bust Out Another Thousand? If its going to end up costing me lots of cash I dont want that.4.) Besides the initial investment to have it repaired and insured/registered, how much should I expect to pay each year for expenses for the sled? Figure I’d hope to use it about 8-12 hours/week.If you have any other advice or knowledge on the subject I would really appreciate it. Thanks very much for all your help!
