Shania Twain was married in a small ceremony on the beaches of Rincon Puerto Rico on Saturday, ushering in the New Year with new found love. Twain wed longtime friend and ex-husband of her former best friend, Frdric Thibaud, at sunset in front of 40 of their closest family and friends.

People.com reports that Twain, 45, bought her wedding gown at a small boutique in Switzerland, near her home. Her son Eja, 9, walked her down the aisle.

“Love, peace and happiness is taking me in to 2011,” Twain wrote on her Web site last month, as she announced her engagement, “and I’m feeling refreshed and optimistic about the future. I’m looking forward to what the new year has in store.”

Their marriage comes two and a half years after they discovered their respective ex-spouses were allegedly having an affair.

After helping to console each other through the marriage breakdowns, Twain and Thibaud’s friendship developed into love, with the country star revealing their engagement on December 21.

When she announced their engagement on her personal website, an ATV Internal ecstatic Twain wrote: ‘I am excited to share some personal news with you; I’m in love!
‘Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship.’

Friends of the couple claim they got engaged in Switzerland – where they both live – in October, but kept it secret until last month.
